Gate Entry Policies

The following policies are in effect for the 2007 season and pertain to gate entry and use of the facilities. As these policies are in effect for the safety of all members and guests, please be sure to review them and adhere to the rules set by the Board of Directors. If you have any questions, please contact the President (Steve Shanus, 478-3399) or Membership (Deborah Savage, 479-0231). Please note: All non-swimmers are included as members if they will be using the facilities on a regular basis, which would also include occupying a chair.

1.      Everyone entering the complex must be a bondholder or non-bondholder member, or covered by a guest card or other GARA membership promotion. This applies to everyone regardless of age (except younger than 3 years of age) or specific facilities to be used.  The only exceptions to this policy are for prospective members touring the facility, open house days, and any person needing to pick up children or contact a pool member.

2.      The playground equipment located near the upper pool is intended for children 8 years and younger. The baby pool is intended for children 6 years and younger. As the lifeguards do not supervise the playground equipment and baby pool areas, supervision will be the sole responsibility of the parents.

3.      All members and guests under the age of 12 years are required to be accompanied and supervised at the pool by an adult member or teenage member over the age of 15 years.

4.      If purchasing a guest card at the gate, a personal check is required, as the volunteer and pool staff are not authorized to handle cash. The volunteer and pool staff are also not authorized to sell single entry guest tickets. Everyone entering as a guest “counts” for guest card purposes regardless of age (except younger than 3 years of age) or specific facilities to be used. Unused or partly unused guest cards purchased in previous years are still valid in 2007. Members may choose to keep their own guest cards, or they may leave them clipped to their information card at the gate.

5.      Pool Parties: Use of the facilities by bondholders/nonbondholders for the purpose of a pool party must be reserved and payment received at least 1 week in advance. Reservation forms, including cost information, may be obtained at the gate. Completed forms, along with payment, should be returned to the pool staff or other contact person listed.

6.      Complaints: If you have a complaint or issue to be considered, it must be submitted in writing, signed and dated, to the GARA Board for discussion at the next meeting. Please do not take personal frustrations over a particular policy, out on the lifeguards or volunteer gate attendants. If you observe a hazard that places any member in imminent danger, notify a guard or pool manager immediately.

The Green Acres Recreation Association appreciates your complete cooperation with these policies. They are intended to keep everyone safe and our pool a pleasant and fun place to spend time. Again, GARA appreciates your complete cooperation. Enjoy the pool and have a SAFE and FUN swim season!
